Responsibilities
- Design, build, and support foundational infrastructure for developers.
- Develop build systems, cloud infrastructure, support tools, and technical solutions for internal and external customers.
- Address scalability challenges and implement solutions that improve team-wide capabilities.
- Own platforms from inception through development, testing, and production release.
- Mentor junior developers and review code for quality and performance.
- Serve as a lead software engineer for complex software projects and provide peer technical assessments.
- Participate in an on-call rotation of approximately one week per quarter and support rotating hours for Garmin’s 24/7 operations.
- Promote team communication, best practices, and education in new technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a listed technical field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of five years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency designing well-architected software systems and modules and implementing algorithmic solutions.
- Mastered proficiency writing software in C#, SQL, PHP, or Python, with relevant data structures or object-oriented design experience or training.
- Ability to decompose requirements into well-defined tasks and balance quality, quantity, and complexity.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Positive, detail-oriented, organized, team-oriented, driven, and able to prioritize and lead in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Preferred experience with Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, TeamCity, Jenkins, AWS, GCP, Docker, container orchestration, microservices, Clean Architecture, and Domain-Driven Design.
