Responsibilities
- Serve as the product security subject-matter expert for NETGEAR product development teams.
- Identify, assess, root-cause, address, validate, and prevent product security issues.
- Champion secure and defensive programming techniques and automation to prevent security problems.
- Implement, scale, and fine-tune security tooling for an effective developer experience.
- Use bug-hunting technologies, fuzzing, reverse engineering, and security rules to discover vulnerabilities at scale.
- Monitor security trends, vulnerabilities, and threat intelligence and assess their relevance to NETGEAR products.
- Elevate secure software development practices across the organization.
Requirements
- 4–9 years of relevant experience in application security, hardware or IoT security, security penetration testing, vulnerability discovery, secure software development, or security design reviews.
- Automation skills and product security expertise, including experience implementing and scaling pre-commit, SAST, and dependency-security tooling.
- Experience with fuzzing, reverse engineering, writing SAST rules, Semgrep, and CodeQL.
- Strong knowledge of common security weaknesses, including OWASP Top 10 lists, and their mitigations.
- Understanding of network security technologies and vulnerabilities, particularly for networking devices.
- Bachelor of Engineering or master’s degree in computer science, computer security, application security, information security, or networking.
- Preferred: participation in CTF competitions, OWASP chapters, or similar security communities; software or firmware development experience; CVE or bug bounty examples; and security patents, publications, or open-source contributions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, written communication, and verbal communication skills in English.
