Responsibilities
- Own and enhance Cloudflare DNS, WAF, DDoS protection, load balancing, health monitoring, traffic steering, TLS, and Tunnel services.
- Lead application migrations from AWS or GCP to Cloudflare, including discovery, dependency mapping, DNS cutover, validation, rollback, and production stabilization.
- Design and operate Layer 3 networking, secure Cloudflare-to-cloud connectivity, origin isolation, segmentation, and controlled ingress and egress.
- Develop reusable Terraform modules for Cloudflare services and manage validation and deployment through Spacelift and Git-based workflows.
- Troubleshoot networking and application-delivery issues using logs, packet captures, route analysis, DNS tools, HTTP traces, TLS inspection, and cloud flow logs.
- Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, dashboards, audit trails, and SIEM integrations for Cloudflare and cloud networking services.
- Participate in incident response, problem management, resilience testing, disaster recovery planning, documentation, and production change processes.
- Partner with application, security, cloud platform, and network teams to define onboarding patterns and deliver low-risk migrations.
Requirements
- 8–10 years of experience in network, cloud, or platform engineering, including 3–5+ years of hands-on AWS or GCP networking and substantial production support experience.
- Expert networking knowledge in AWS or GCP, including VPC architecture, routing, peering or transit connectivity, NAT, firewall controls, DNS, and load balancers.
- Hands-on Cloudflare experience with DNS, WAF, DDoS protection, load balancing, health monitoring, traffic steering, TLS, analytics, and Cloudflare Tunnels.
- Experience migrating internet-facing applications to Cloudflare with controlled DNS cutovers, origin integration, validation, rollback, and post-production support.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP fundamentals, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, TLS, proxies, Anycast, subnetting, route selection, and Layer 3–Layer 7 troubleshooting.
- Experience securing cloud origins and network paths through least privilege, segmentation, encryption, certificate management, and defense-in-depth controls.
- Advanced Terraform skills, hands-on Spacelift or comparable infrastructure-as-code orchestration experience, and strong Git, module lifecycle, testing, and CI/CD practices.
- Experience building operational monitoring, alerting, dashboards, audit trails, and SIEM integrations for Cloudflare and AWS or GCP networking services.
- Strong product ownership, communication, documentation, incident-management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Preferred qualifications include Cloudflare, AWS Advanced Networking, or Google Cloud networking certifications; Python, PowerShell, Rego, or Bash automation; cloud API familiarity; hybrid connectivity; centralized inspection; multi-cloud networking; and familiarity with Claude or Cursor.
