Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and operate tools and frameworks that improve the reliability and usability of nonproduction environments.
- Develop self-service capabilities for provisioning, service onboarding, deployment, configuration, health validation, and troubleshooting.
- Build reusable automation libraries, APIs, command-line tools, and workflow integrations with clear interfaces and documentation.
- Improve development, integration, test, and release-validation pipelines, including build orchestration, artifact promotion, and failure diagnosis.
- Automate nonproduction environment provisioning, upgrades, configuration synchronization, drift detection, and cleanup.
- Build observability capabilities and dashboards using metrics, logs, traces, deployment events, and environment metadata.
- Define and measure reliability for developer-experience services and nonproduction platforms, including availability, provisioning time, pipeline success, deployment duration, and recovery time.
- Develop AI-assisted tools, agents, and workflows for pipeline failure analysis, log investigation, environment comparison, knowledge retrieval, and guided troubleshooting.
- Evaluate AI-assisted capabilities for accuracy, usefulness, and safe failure handling before adoption.
- Implement secure automation with appropriate permissions, secrets handling, auditability, recovery procedures, and approval boundaries.
- Improve nonproduction resource utilization through rightsizing, lifecycle policies, and automated identification of idle or orphaned resources.
- Support nonproduction platforms, investigate recurring issues, and convert support findings into durable tooling improvements.
- Partner with developers, QA, release engineering, SRE, and security teams to identify friction and prioritize improvements.
- Participate in scheduled on-call rotation and production support, including alert triage, incident response, escalation coordination, service restoration, and handoffs.
- Maintain technical documentation, onboarding guides, runbooks, and examples, and contribute to code reviews and engineering standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Professional experience in platform engineering, developer tooling, SRE, DevOps, infrastructure software, or backend software engineering, including ownership of production systems.
- Proficiency in Python, Go, Java, or a comparable programming language, with experience building maintainable tools, services, or frameworks.
- Experience designing reusable interfaces, integrating APIs, and developing automated tests.
- Hands-on experience with Linux, Git, containers, Kubernetes, and at least one major cloud platform such as OCI, AWS, or Azure.
- Experience developing infrastructure-as-code modules using Terraform or an equivalent tool.
- Experience building, troubleshooting, or improving CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience implementing observability using metrics, logs, dashboards, or distributed tracing.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across application dependencies, Kubernetes, infrastructure, and networking fundamentals.
- Demonstrated ability to address developer friction and repetitive support work through automation or self-service capabilities.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools, including reviewing generated code and validating results.
- Ability to independently deliver well-scoped projects and collaborate effectively with platform users.
- Preferred experience with OCI, including OKE, IAM, networking, Object Storage, and DevOps tooling.
