Base Salary
$185k - $490k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and ship APIs, SDKs, and services for extending ChatGPT and Codex.
- Build product experiences for discovering, installing, using, creating, testing, publishing, updating, and sharing plugins.
- Improve model plugin selection, task completion, reliability, error handling, and recovery paths across ChatGPT and Codex.
- Develop permissions, approvals, and administrative controls for plugin adoption by individuals and organizations.
- Work with Research to diagnose model–tool failures and measure improvements as models evolve.
- Partner with developers and partners to improve the platform, tooling, and documentation.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Research, Security, and Trust & Safety to scale plugin infrastructure and deliver safe, reliable execution.
Requirements
- Product-minded engineering judgment and strong opinions about APIs and abstractions, with the ability to explain technical tradeoffs.
- Experience with identity, permissions, or integration-heavy systems is especially valuable.
- Ability to work with users and developers, translate recurring problems into product and platform improvements, and take ambiguous problems through production.
- Comfort working across web interfaces and backend systems.
- Experience building products people rely on or software used by other developers, such as APIs, SDKs, open-source projects, developer platforms, or internal tools.
- Experience with applied AI systems, model–tool interaction diagnosis, and reliability or quality measurement is especially valuable.
