Base Salary
$162k - $199k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead design and delivery of complex team-level projects across Metadata services.
- Design and develop new subsystem architectures and own team-level subsystems end to end.
- Use AI tooling and agents across development and SDLC artifacts.
- Review and approve technical designs and identify design deficiencies before release.
- Drive technical initiatives for discovery API, catalog, lineage, and run history.
- Set and uphold design, architecture, and coding standards.
- Coach and mentor engineers while improving code quality across the team.
- Write technical specifications and document common components.
- Optimize critical code, follow through on incidents, and improve service reliability and performance.
- Participate periodically in the on-call rotation.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience leading complex, team-scope technical work.
- Deep expertise designing and owning subsystems in distributed, cloud-based systems.
- Demonstrated ability to set technical direction and drive multi-engineer initiatives.
- Excellent design and architecture judgment with the ability to evaluate trade-offs.
- Strong coding, code review, coaching, and engineering quality practices.
- Experience partnering with QE on test strategy and owning incidents, post-mortems, reliability, and performance.
- Proficiency in a modern backend or systems language such as Python, Java, C++, or C#.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure; Docker and Kubernetes; and development infrastructure.
- Fluency with AI code assistants, coding agents, Claude, or ChatGPT for code and SDLC artifacts.
- Experience with ETL or ELT and cloud-based data platforms is a bonus.
- Experience architecting metadata, catalog, lineage, or discovery/search systems is a bonus.
- Experience with GraphQL APIs and high-throughput, multi-tenant data services is a bonus.
- Familiarity with analytics engineering workflows and the dbt ecosystem is a bonus.
