Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance to teams, contractors, and vendors delivering data ingestion, transformation, distribution, and data product capabilities.
  • Design, develop, review, debug, and improve secure production code for scalable data pipelines, data services, and marketplace-facing Data Products.
  • Lead reusable platform capabilities that improve metadata, lineage, data quality, semantic consistency, trust, explainability, and AI readiness.
  • Drive decisions on product design, data product contracts, distribution approaches, engineering processes, reliability, and consumer experience.
  • Establish engineering standards and automation covering testing, CI/CD, observability, performance, security, stability, and scalability.
  • Promote governance and responsible use of approved AI-assisted engineering practices, including validation of correctness, performance, and security.
  • Act as a function-wide subject matter expert and contribute to firmwide software development lifecycle frameworks, tools, and practices.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with extensive or advanced applied experience, depending on region.
  • Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages, including Python.
  • Experience leading the effective use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools for coding, code review, test acceleration, or troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, data sensitivity, secure input and output handling, resiliency, and security expectations.
  • Ability to solve design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight.
  • Practical cloud-native experience.
  • Preferred experience delivering Data Products through a data marketplace or self-service consumption model.
  • Preferred familiarity with metadata, lineage, quality measurement, semantic consistency, quantitative or research consumers, and performance-sensitive data access patterns.
  • Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, or similar cloud data platforms is preferred.
  • AWS Certification is preferred but not required.
