PR&D – Technical Lead Architect – Semantic Layer & Agentic AI

Responsibilities
- Build and own ontology-driven semantic layers, knowledge graphs, triplets, and vector-store foundations for structured and unstructured PR&D/CMC data.
- Design multi-modal and multilingual ingestion, ontology-based tagging, metadata enrichment, and hybrid graph, vector, and keyword retrieval.
- Deploy agentic architectures including Q&A, summarization, context-retrieval, and domain agents exposed through MCP or equivalent interfaces.
- Define agent orchestration, agent-to-agent handoffs, evaluation frameworks, observability, monitoring, prompt libraries, and operational guardrails.
- Partner with PR&D scientists and business stakeholders to translate workflows such as batch investigations and CMC submissions into roadmap priorities.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership, architecture governance, implementation oversight, mentorship, and reusable reference patterns for engineering teams.
- Ensure ontology change management, validation, traceability, security, privacy, and regulated-environment compliance.
- Evaluate and rationalize emerging knowledge graph, vector database, and agentic AI technologies through staged proof-of-concepts.
Requirements
- Proven production experience building knowledge graphs and semantic layers end to end, rather than only overseeing them.
- Demonstrated experience implementing semantic layers spanning structured and unstructured data and making ontology, retrieval, and architecture governance decisions.
- Experience operating multiple production agents with shared guardrails, evaluation, and observability tooling beyond single-agent RAG or Q&A systems.
- Experience partnering with business or science stakeholders to shape technical roadmaps and prioritization.
- Track record of providing hands-on technical leadership to engineering teams and leading through ambiguity, complexity, and organizational transformation.
- Experience in CMC, pharmaceutical, life sciences, batch records, process parameters, or LIMS, MES, DMS, and ELN systems is an additional qualification.
- Familiarity with data-to-ontology mapping, document-to-schema conversion, MCP or equivalent tool-calling interfaces, and agent-to-agent communication patterns is preferred.
- Ability to present technical strategy and graph/retrieval trade-offs to senior, non-technical stakeholders and defend a roadmap.
- Background in pharma and GxP-regulated environments is preferred.
