Base Salary
$155k - $260k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own technically complex, mission-critical areas and deliver outcomes with substantial autonomy.
- Define technical strategy for new products and platform capabilities across backend services, APIs, and customer-facing interfaces.
- Design and ship full-stack features across backend, frontend, and potentially mobile systems.
- Partner with product, design, and customer-facing teams to translate ambiguous operational problems into technical plans.
- Build and scale data ingestion, APIs, and workflows supporting AI-driven products.
- Provide code reviews, design reviews, technical mentorship, and engineering quality leadership.
- Champion Samsara’s cultural principles across teams and offices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of software design and development experience, including operating production systems at scale.
- Strong full-stack fundamentals across backend services, APIs, and web or mobile frontends.
- Proficiency with modern languages and frameworks such as Go, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, and React.
- Experience leading cross-team or cross-organization projects from inception through rollout.
- Experience building AI-powered or data-driven products and translating AI capabilities into customer products.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A track record of building zero-to-one products or substantially improving complex systems.
- Preferred experience shipping LLM-based products, agentic workflows, recommendation systems, or other customer-facing AI features.
- Preferred familiarity with AI-augmented development workflows, operational data, mentoring senior engineers, and influencing engineering culture.
- Side projects, open-source contributions, or other evidence of curiosity and drive are valued.
