Base Salary

$101k - $175k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain backend services and application logic for RAPTR modeling, simulation, and analytical workflows.
  • Translate analyst and data scientist needs into software features for data ingestion, scenario configuration, and results management.
  • Design and implement APIs and service layers connecting the platform with analytical tools and external systems.
  • Build and manage data pipelines and storage solutions for large-scale analytical runs and scenario outputs.
  • Optimize performance, scalability, and high-volume simulation data handling.
  • Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and systems engineers to align backend capabilities with analytical objectives.
  • Integrate backend services with front-end interfaces and visualization tools.
  • Implement security best practices for sensitive and mission-critical data.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, debugging, and integration with engineering artifacts such as CONOPs, system architectures, interfaces, and data models.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5–10 years of backend software development experience with senior-level proficiency.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, or Node.js.
  • Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and service-oriented architectures.
  • Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL or MongoDB.
  • Experience building or supporting data-intensive applications or analytical platforms.
  • Familiarity with backend frameworks such as Django, Flask, or Spring Framework.
  • Strong understanding of software design principles, performance optimization, and scalable system design.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git.
  • Ability to work with evolving requirements and strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Preferred experience includes modeling and simulation, wargaming, analytical platforms, cloud environments, data pipelines, ETL processes, distributed data systems, space or defense applications, machine learning workflow integration, Docker, or orchestration tools.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a TS/SCI clearance and willing to obtain a CI Poly; only U.S. citizens are eligible for the required security clearance.
