Associate Security Engineer (Remote)

Responsibilities
- Assist with writing, testing, and tuning basic security detections under senior engineer mentorship.
- Triage detection alerts, analyze event logs, and identify potential security concerns across host and network data.
- Support the creation of scripts and automated workflows for alert handling.
- Document detection rules, team processes, and operational workflows.
- Analyze threat data and validate detection alert accuracy while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in Security Engineering, SOC Analysis, Incident Response, or a related technical role; internship or lab experience counts.
- U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency is required for federal compliance and GovCloud infrastructure access.
- Basic familiarity with SIEM or log analysis tools such as LogScale, Splunk, Kibana, or Elastic.
- Foundational knowledge of attacker techniques, network traffic, host-based artifacts, operating systems, networking, and web security.
- Basic proficiency in Python, PowerShell, GoLang, or another scripting language.
- Understanding of Windows, MacOS, Linux, TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, OWASP Top 10, SSL/TLS, and common web vulnerabilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or equivalent hands-on experience such as bootcamps, self-study projects, or CTFs.
- Preferred qualifications include entry-level security certifications, CTF participation, home lab projects, open-source security tool experience, and exposure to AWS, Azure, GCP, or Docker.
- Strong willingness to learn, written communication skills, adaptability, and attention to detail.
