Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, maintenance, and mobile release of Android applications.
- Drive the architecture and ground-up implementation of scalable, reliable, and performant mobile platforms and solutions.
- Define and execute Android engineering strategy in partnership with engineering leadership, product management, design, and other stakeholders.
- Lead complex initiatives from concept through delivery, including technical decisions, roadmap definition, risk mitigation, and platform investments.
- Establish best practices and ensure architectural consistency, performance, reliability, maintainability, code quality, operational rigor, and continuous improvement.
- Implement deployment processes and monitoring for mobile platforms.
- Mentor senior and junior engineers through technical guidance, pair programming, code reviews, presentations, example code, and documentation.
- Stay current with mobile development technologies and advocate for appropriate tools and techniques.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience shipping customer-facing Android applications.
- Proficiency in Android development using Kotlin or Java.
- Understanding of mobile platform architecture, UI/UX design principles and frameworks, GraphQL, mobile security, and performance optimization.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and mobile release processes.
- Experience serving as a technical lead for large projects lasting at least six months and defining roadmaps across multiple teams and functions.
- Strong communication skills for explaining technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in startup environments, launching products from 0 to 1, and graduating them to highly customized applications.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
- Preferred experience includes automotive systems, mobile app testing, experimentation frameworks, automation frameworks, cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure, and mobile apps connecting to an IoT device.
