Responsibilities
- Own SoFi’s long-term cloud networking vision, north-star architecture, and multi-year roadmap.
- Design and guide multi-region, multi-cluster, internet-facing, multi-account, service-to-service, and hybrid cloud networking.
- Lead AI and automation efforts for infrastructure and networking, including reusable tooling, agentic workflows, policy checks, and safety guardrails.
- Advise Infrastructure and Technology leadership on networking strategy, investments, vendors, and build-versus-buy decisions.
- Partner with Security, Compliance, Risk, SRE, architecture, and business leaders on network policies, standards, and implementations.
- Serve as the lead resolver for high-severity, customer-impacting network incidents and define networking SLOs and outcome metrics.
- Build network observability and drive progressive delivery, traffic management, automated rollback, and operational improvements.
- Mentor Staff and Senior Staff engineers and raise the quality bar for design and code reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of professional engineering experience, including 2+ years in a senior technical leadership role at Staff level or above with company-wide or multi-department scope.
- Deep expertise in TCP/IP, BGP, DNS, TLS, HTTP, and L4/L7 load balancing.
- Deep experience designing and operating large-scale internet-facing networks, including edge, CDN, WAF, and DDoS protection.
- Deep expertise in AWS networking and multi-account, multi-region design.
- Strong experience with Kubernetes networking, ingress and gateway patterns, service meshes, and multi-cluster topologies.
- Experience with progressive-delivery traffic management, including weighted routing, canary releases, and automated rollback.
- Hands-on experience using AI to automate infrastructure or operations work.
- Programming experience in Go or Python and strong experience with infrastructure as code and network automation.
- Track record of setting technical direction across organizations and delivering multi-quarter cross-functional initiatives.
- Experience leading high-severity, customer-impacting incident response.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, executive presentation, interpersonal, and cross-organizational alignment skills.
- Preferred experience includes on-premises data center networking, hybrid cloud connectivity, zero trust networking, network segmentation, workload identity, agentic tooling, MCP servers, PKI, certificate automation, and security or compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, PCI DSS, or FFIEC.
