Base Salary
$137k - $299k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and refine an evaluation and optimization loop to identify agent failure modes and improve prompts, tools, skills, context, and guardrails.
- Run experiments balancing agent quality, latency, and cost, including fine-tuning open-weights models and deploying small language models.
- Take new agentic opportunities for Merchants and Dashers from exploration through production launch.
- Partner on agentic memory, agent-compatible product representations, and post-training of small language models for steerable generative recommendations.
- Define an ML-driven strategy with engineering, product, and business leaders for DoorDash’s grocery and retail delivery business.
Requirements
- 3+ years of industry machine learning experience, including hands-on experience building and shipping LLM-based agents.
- Experience with tool use, context management, prompting, guardrails, evaluations, and data-driven agent improvement.
- Experience with post-training or fine-tuning open-weights models, such as supervised fine-tuning, preference optimization, or reinforcement learning.
- Strong foundations in NLP and machine learning, with proficiency in Python and frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- M.S. or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or another quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Collaborative, growth-minded approach and drive for measurable impact.
