Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize ABAP solutions for SAP HANA using pushdown principles and efficient data access patterns.
- Build CDS views, associations, annotations, authorization-aware data models, and reusable semantic data artifacts.
- Implement performance-critical logic with AMDP and SQLScript where appropriate.
- Develop modular ABAP code, services, and APIs using modern OData and contract-first service design patterns.
- Build AI-enabled SAP experiences using LLM integration, tool calling, retrieval grounding, prompts, context assembly, deterministic fallbacks, and safety guardrails.
- Create automated unit, integration, and contract tests along with AI evaluation harnesses, golden datasets, scenario tests, and monitoring.
- Implement logging, metrics, traces, robust error handling, retries, idempotency, correlation IDs, runbooks, and structured diagnostics.
- Integrate SAP HANA services with SAP and non-SAP ecosystems and collaborate with UX, integration, data, and platform teams.
- Prototype solutions and evolve them into scalable, production-ready systems with security and compliance controls.
Requirements
- At least 7.5 years of professional experience is required.
- 15 years of full-time education is required.
- Strong hands-on expertise in SAP ABAP Development for HANA, including performance tuning, pushdown, and efficient SQL access patterns.
- Proficiency with CDS views, associations, annotations, authorization concepts, and modern enterprise data modeling.
- Experience with AMDP and SQLScript for performance-critical scenarios and controlled code pushdown.
- Solid software engineering discipline covering clean design, testing, production readiness, and maintainability.
- Experience building AI-native capabilities involving LLM integration, retrieval grounding, tool orchestration, evaluation loops, and safety boundaries.
- Knowledge of OData and service design patterns, API lifecycle management, and contract-first development is strongly beneficial.
- Experience integrating SAP backends with cloud runtimes and enterprise integration platforms is strongly beneficial.
- Familiarity with performance benchmarking, load testing, query-plan-driven tuning, SAP security, authorizations, and compliance requirements is strongly beneficial.
- The role does not require training or fine-tuning foundation models from scratch.
