Software Engineer II - Python
JPMorgan ChaseResponsibilities
- Design and develop scalable and resilient systems using Python, SQL, React, AWS, and related technologies.
- Deliver software solutions across design, development, troubleshooting, and full-stack implementation as needed.
- Partner with internal clients on requirements gathering, troubleshooting, and delivery of strategy, decisioning, and risk/cost management tools.
- Create secure, high-quality production code and maintain reliable services, algorithms, and upstream/downstream integrations.
- Contribute to application architecture and design artifacts while implementing designs in software code.
- Analyze large and diverse data sets and develop visualizations and reporting to improve applications and systems.
- Identify data patterns and hidden problems to improve coding hygiene, data quality, and system architecture.
- Design and implement LLM-enabled features with attention to reliability, latency, cost, safety, and user experience.
- Develop and version prompts and system instructions, define test cases and evaluation criteria, and iteratively improve AI features.
- Implement RAG, tool/function calling, workflow orchestration, human-in-the-loop review, automated checks, regression tests, guardrails, and observability.
- Apply secure engineering practices including data minimization, access controls, sensitive-data handling, and resilience against prompt injection and misuse.
- Participate in software engineering communities of practice and contribute to an inclusive, respectful team culture.
Requirements
- Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Proficiency in Java or Python and experience with modern programming languages and database querying languages.
- Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining software in a large corporate environment.
- Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Understanding of application resiliency, security, and delivery practices such as CI/CD.
- Knowledge of software applications and technical processes in areas such as cloud, artificial intelligence, or machine learning.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver AI-enabled capabilities using prompting techniques, structured inputs and outputs, evaluation approaches, and iterative refinement with products and users.
- Familiarity with modern front-end technologies such as React.
- Exposure to cloud technologies such as AWS.
- Knowledge or interest in the financial industry.
- Experience with applied AI practices such as RAG, semantic search, embeddings, prompt/version management, LLM evaluations, model or service integration, or production AI monitoring.
