Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable components of distributed systems and optimize them for large-scale data processing.
- Use data-plane platforms and distributed state-management tools for high-volume retrieval, storage, and processing.
- Implement performance, load, fault-injection, brown-out, functional, and correctness testing.
- Build fault-tolerant components using redundancy, replication, automatic failover, retries, circuit breakers, timeouts, and recovery-oriented computing.
- Create alarms, dashboards, telemetry, runbooks, alerting mechanisms, and operational procedures to monitor and recover system components.
- Diagnose and resolve operational issues, participate in support rotations and incident response, and conduct root-cause investigations.
- Develop troubleshooting automation, infrastructure-as-code scripts, and cloud-infrastructure maintenance tools.
- Apply encryption, access controls, vulnerability remediation, compliance practices, and current documentation for multi-tenant environments.
- Track timelines, prioritize work, and adjust execution as resources or requirements change.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of software development experience, or a qualifying bachelor's degree with 4 years, master's degree with 2 years, or doctorate in a related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge or ability in distributed systems, scalable and highly available software, computer science programming, software engineering, web development, operating systems, APIs, algorithm engineering, source control, innovation, and cross-functional collaboration.
- At least 2 years of professional experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or Oracle Cloud.
- At least 3 years of experience in system-level testing and automation.
- At least 2 years of experience delivering and operating large-scale distributed systems.
- Ability to assess and mitigate vulnerabilities in information assets and develop secure API integrations.
- Preferred qualifications repeat the stated software development education and experience paths.
