Base Salary
$79k - $210k/yr
Responsibilities
- Implement and enhance C and C++ components for OCI’s virtual networking dataplane, including routing, network address translation, gateways, and security-policy enforcement.
- Build scalable, multi-tenant packet-processing features and optimize CPU utilization, memory usage, concurrency, latency, and throughput.
- Develop unit, integration, system, performance, scale, fault-injection, brownout, and recovery tests.
- Design and operate fault-tolerant networking components with health checks, retries, timeouts, graceful draining, failover, and recovery mechanisms.
- Support staged deployments, automated validation, monitoring, rollback, and recovery procedures.
- Build and maintain service metrics, alarms, dashboards, telemetry, canaries, and operational health checks.
- Diagnose Linux, networking, performance, and production issues using logs, metrics, packet captures, traces, profilers, and debugging tools.
- Participate in on-call rotation, incident response, root-cause analysis, and corrective-action follow-through.
- Maintain automation and infrastructure-as-code for building, testing, deploying, and operating the service.
- Own assigned features through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, production validation, and support.
Requirements
- Strong experience with C/C++, systems programming, cloud networking, Linux, and high-performance dataplane technologies.
- Experience developing fault-tolerant distributed systems, production networking components, and multi-tenant services.
- Experience with performance profiling and optimization involving CPU, memory, concurrency, latency, and throughput.
- Experience with testing, observability, production troubleshooting, staged deployment, and operational support.
- Experience with technologies such as DPDK, VirtIO, Linux networking, SR-IOV, SmartNICs, eBPF, XDP, or userspace packet-processing frameworks is especially valuable.
- Ability to plan and deliver work with limited supervision, troubleshoot moderately complex issues, communicate technical decisions, and collaborate across networking, infrastructure, security, and operations teams.
