
Software Architect

- Define and guide the platform’s architectural strategy toward cloud-native and event-driven architecture.
- Partner with engineering managers, product leaders, and senior engineers to align technical decisions with customer and business priorities.
- Evaluate tradeoffs involving scalability, performance, reliability, security, maintainability, and user experience.
- Provide technical leadership for modernization initiatives and incremental migration efforts.
- Design and review architecture for complex features, services, integrations, and platform capabilities.
- Mentor engineers and strengthen technical judgment across the team without relying on direct authority.
- Establish engineering standards, patterns, and practices that improve quality and consistency.
- Guide adoption of automated testing, continuous delivery, observability, and operational readiness.
- Partner with teams on AI-assisted development practices and potential AI-enabled product capabilities.
- Communicate architectural recommendations and technical tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Successfully complete a fingerprint background check in accordance with CJIS requirements.
Requirements
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience designing and delivering production software systems.
- Strong technical foundation in .NET and C# and experience with established systems and modernization efforts.
- Experience designing or evolving event-driven and distributed architectures.
- Experience building or operating systems in AWS using cloud-native design principles.
- Experience designing APIs, service integrations, and scalable backend systems.
- Strong understanding of relational databases, data modeling, system performance, automated testing, continuous delivery, observability, and secure development.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code, containerization, or cloud deployment patterns.
- Ability to make decisions amid ambiguity and clearly communicate technical tradeoffs.
- Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction without direct authority.
- Experience using AI tools to improve engineering workflows, quality, and outcomes.
- Preferred experience leading platform modernization or incremental production migrations.
- Preferred experience with iOS, Android, Windows, cross-platform mobile development, Angular, React, public-sector systems, public safety, or regulated environments.
