Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and manage Snowflake data platforms on AWS, including warehouse sizing, clustering, resource monitors, data sharing, and multi-cluster configurations.
  • Architect and optimize Snowflake virtual warehouses, storage layers, RBAC, security controls, and cost optimization strategies.
  • Collaborate with development, data engineering, and cross-functional teams to define and meet database and data platform requirements.
  • Implement database security policies covering RBAC, dynamic data masking, row-level security, access control, encryption, auditing, and compliance.
  • Monitor performance and troubleshoot Snowflake and supporting AWS database services.
  • Optimize query performance through schema design, clustering keys, materialized views, query profiling, and indexing strategies.
  • Implement and test backup, disaster recovery, and time-travel procedures aligned with business RTO/RPO requirements.
  • Maintain database documentation, data dictionaries, data models, Snowflake object inventories, and technical specifications.
  • Automate database provisioning and management with Infrastructure as Code tools and scripting.
  • Support AWS Aurora, RDS, Redshift, and DynamoDB database services.
  • Evaluate Snowflake releases, AWS database innovations, and AI/ML integrations for adoption.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 4–7 years of experience in database or data platform engineering, including at least 3 years of hands-on Snowflake administration.
  • Deep Snowflake expertise covering virtual warehouse management, cost optimization, security, data sharing, replication, failover groups, Snowpipe, Tasks, Streams, change data capture, query profiling, clustering keys, and materialized views.
  • Experience managing highly available databases in AWS, including Aurora, RDS, Redshift, or DynamoDB.
  • Expertise in Python or PowerShell scripting for automation and pipeline support.
  • Strong understanding of database security principles, encryption, access control, auditing, and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, HIPAA, or GDPR.
  • Experience with Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK for Infrastructure as Code deployments.
  • Familiarity with dbt, Apache Airflow, or AWS Glue for Snowflake data pipeline orchestration.
  • Strong SQL and data modeling knowledge, including normalization, dimensional modeling, and schema design.
  • Preferred Snowflake certifications such as SnowPro Core or SnowPro Advanced.
  • Preferred AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or AWS Certified Database Specialty.
  • Preferred experience with Snowpark, Snowflake Cortex, AWS SageMaker, AWS Bedrock, MongoDB, Couchbase, Snowflake Data Marketplace, Kafka, Kinesis, or Snowpipe Streaming.
