Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and manage Snowflake data platforms on AWS, including virtual warehouses, clustering, resource monitors, data sharing, and multi-cluster configurations.
- Architect and optimize Snowflake storage, access controls, security policies, query performance, and cost management.
- Collaborate with development and data engineering teams to align databases and data platforms with organizational requirements.
- Implement database security, encryption, auditing, dynamic masking, row-level security, backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and time-travel procedures.
- Monitor performance and troubleshoot Snowflake and AWS database services.
- Create database documentation, data dictionaries, data models, object inventories, and technical specifications.
- Automate database provisioning and management using Infrastructure as Code and scripting.
- Support Aurora, RDS, Redshift, and DynamoDB as complementary database platforms.
- Evaluate Snowflake releases, AWS database innovations, and AI/ML integrations for adoption.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 4–7 years of database or data platform engineering experience, including at least three years of hands-on Snowflake administration.
- Deep Snowflake expertise covering virtual warehouses, cost optimization, security, data sharing, replication, failover groups, Snowpipe, Tasks, Streams, change data capture, query profiling, clustering keys, and materialized views.
- Experience managing highly available databases in AWS, including Aurora, RDS, Redshift, or DynamoDB.
- Expertise in Python or PowerShell scripting for automation and pipeline support.
- Strong understanding of database security principles, encryption, access control, auditing, and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, HIPAA, or GDPR.
- Experience with Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK for Infrastructure as Code deployments.
- Familiarity with dbt, Apache Airflow, or AWS Glue for Snowflake data pipelines.
- Strong SQL and data modeling knowledge, including normalization, dimensional modeling, and schema design.
- Preferred qualifications include SnowPro Core or SnowPro Advanced certification, relevant AWS certifications, Snowpark experience, AI/ML integration experience, MongoDB or Couchbase experience, Snowflake Data Marketplace exposure, and Kafka, Kinesis, or Snowpipe Streaming experience.
