Responsibilities
- Build infrastructure for metadata covering hundreds of billions of files, hundreds of petabytes of user data, and millions of concurrent connections.
- Expand Dropbox’s data-fabric capabilities across applications, devices, services, and ecosystems.
- Measure and optimize the analytics platform for extracting insights from large data volumes.
- Improve the performance, reliability, security, interoperability, and adaptability of Dropbox’s infrastructure.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in occasional on-call support for bugs, outages, and operational issues.
Requirements
- A BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related coding-focused technical field, such as physics or mathematics, or equivalent technical experience.
- At least 2 years of professional software development experience.
- Experience building and managing large-scale, multithreaded, geographically distributed backend systems.
- Proficiency programming and debugging in languages such as Python, Go, C/C++, or Java.
- Experience with operating system internals, filesystems, databases, networks, and compilers.
- Ability to independently execute assigned tasks.
- Preferred: familiarity with semaphores and mutexes.
