GE VernovaResponsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust real-time embedded firmware for microprocessor-based protection relays using C and C++.
- Collaborate with Protection Engineers to implement complex mathematical algorithms in efficient embedded-ready code.
- Optimize firmware for low-latency real-time processing and IEC 61850 communication stacks.
- Test, profile, validate, and debug firmware for stability under extreme grid conditions.
- Implement secure coding practices and firmware security features in compliance with IEC 62443.
- Use AI coding assistants for embedded code generation, refactoring, unit-test scaffolding, and static analysis.
- Write precise specifications and prompts for bounded, verifiable AI-generated code changes.
- Validate AI-generated code against real-time timing and memory constraints.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Embedded Systems, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.
- Expert-level proficiency in C and C++ for embedded environments.
- Knowledge of power-system protection principles or digital signal processing.
- Proficiency in Python for test automation.
- Knowledge of GitHub.
- Experience with VxWorks, FreeRTOS, QNX, or Embedded Linux.
- Proficiency in English and mandatory French for local collaboration.
- Preferred experience with Model-Based Design, including MATLAB/Simulink Coder.
- Preferred familiarity with Agile/Scrum and CI/CD pipelines for firmware.
- Preferred experience in the energy, industrial, or aerospace sectors.
- Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, documentation, planning, program execution, and project-management skills.
Benefits
- The Canadian-based position offers a base pay range of $92,300 to $142,000 CAD.
- Eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.
