GE VernovaResponsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust real-time embedded software for microprocessor-based protection relays using C and C++.
- Collaborate with protection engineers to implement complex mathematical algorithms in efficient embedded code.
- Optimize firmware for real-time execution and low-latency data processing, including IEC 61850 communication stacks.
- Test, profile, debug, and validate firmware stability under extreme power-grid conditions.
- Implement secure coding practices and cybersecurity features in the firmware architecture in compliance with IEC 62443.
- Use AI coding assistants for embedded code generation, refactoring, unit-test scaffolding, code specifications, and static analysis.
- Validate AI-generated code against real-time timing and memory constraints.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Embedded Systems, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.
- Expert-level proficiency in C and C++ for embedded environments.
- Knowledge of power-system protection principles or digital signal processing.
- Proficiency in Python for test automation.
- Knowledge of GitHub.
- Experience with VxWorks, FreeRTOS, QNX, or Embedded Linux.
- Proficiency in English and mandatory French proficiency for local collaboration.
- Preferred experience with model-based design such as MATLAB/Simulink Coder.
- Preferred experience in energy, industrial, or aerospace sectors.
- Preferred familiarity with firmware CI/CD pipelines and established project-management, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Benefits
- Pay range for the Canadian-based position is $92,300 to $142,000 CAD.
- Eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.
