Responsibilities
- Implement custom agent skills, subagents, hooks, and plugins for engineering workflows such as pull request review, test generation, on-call summaries, migration scripts, and release notes.
- Build agentic workflows that automate code generation, verification, testing, and delivery into tested, reviewable pull requests.
- Help engineering teams adopt and customize AI coding tools by pairing with teams, debugging agents, and delivering workflow-specific skills.
- Integrate AI into CI/CD for automated pull request review, documentation generation, test scaffolding, and bug triage.
- Build observability capabilities including usage telemetry, cost dashboards, and audit logs for AI-driven changes.
- Design and run evaluations for agent workflows and maintain a reusable engineering harness.
- Investigate and fix misbehaving agents, evaluation regressions, cost spikes, and MCP permission edge cases.
- Participate in design reviews, post-mortems, and on-call support for the AI Tooling platform.
- Write reusable, testable, and efficient code and research emerging AI coding tools and patterns.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience as a software engineer building production systems and platforms.
- Daily experience using and customizing AI coding tools, including skills, rules, subagents, MCP servers, hooks, or extensions.
- Working knowledge of MCP and safe exposure of internal tools to AI agents.
- Working knowledge of the Anthropic API or equivalent APIs, including tool use, structured outputs, streaming, and prompt caching.
- Production backend experience with TypeScript or Python, APIs, asynchronous work, and relational databases.
- Experience building developer-facing tooling such as CLIs, GitHub Apps, and integrations.
- Awareness of AI development-tool security concerns, including prompt secrets, code and data egress, prompt injection, and audit trails.
- Experience with CI/CD systems such as GitHub Actions or similar tools.
- Experience with or willingness to learn Drata’s core stack, including Node.js/TypeScript, Temporal, MySQL, and REST.
- Experience with AWS and real-world web application development.
- Familiarity with DORA, DX, and SPACE engineering productivity measurement frameworks.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, written communication, self-direction, adaptability, and feature ownership skills.
- Experience with agile development.
- Preferred qualifications include published agent skills, open-source AI development-tool contributions, GitHub App development, and Terraform experience.
