Base Salary
$113k - $183k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain Java-based applications and services for Caterpillar’s MineStar ecosystem.
- Develop mission-critical software in multithreaded and distributed environments with attention to concurrent processing, real-time performance, and algorithm-based development.
- Deliver features through the full software development lifecycle, including refinement, estimation, implementation, testing, and release.
- Contribute to solution design, technical decisions, design artifacts, code reviews, design reviews, documentation, and engineering standards.
- Monitor production services, troubleshoot incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable reliability fixes.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and Quality Engineering to clarify requirements, define acceptance criteria, and incorporate feedback.
- Mentor and support engineers through pairing, coaching, knowledge sharing, hiring participation, and capability development.
Requirements
- Proven experience developing mission-critical Java software in multithreaded and distributed environments.
- Knowledge of programming, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, source-code maintenance, and computer program design.
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle practices and structured software delivery methodologies.
- Experience or strong capability in technical troubleshooting, problem solving, and applying industry knowledge.
- Top candidates should have commercial experience with microservices, distributed architecture, modern database design and technologies, cloud-based web applications, build and dependency management tools, and RESTful APIs.
- Experience with Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and microservices development is preferred.
- Experience with modern security principles and technologies is preferred.
- Strong analytical, design, problem-solving, collaboration, self-management, and feedback skills are preferred.
