Responsibilities
- Own backend features end to end, from requirements refinement with Product through robust production-ready implementation.
- Evolve the system core, APIs, and data layer.
- Optimize performance, scalability, and reliability under demanding workloads.
- Improve product and technical decisions and balance rapid delivery with sustainable architecture.
- Shape product architecture and long-term technical direction.
- Adapt APIs and infrastructure for AI/ML-driven workloads and modern drug-discovery pipelines.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with a strong backend focus.
- Deep understanding of object-oriented programming, algorithms, data structures, and computer science fundamentals.
- Extensive experience with RDBMS, columnar databases, search engines, and other NoSQL technologies.
- Proven experience in agentic engineering.
- Strong proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin.
- Experience with system-level refactoring and the Spring ecosystem.
- Ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Interest in life sciences, data science, and ML/AI applications.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills and fluent English.
- Preferred: knowledge of biology and genetics, experience with profiling, tracing, and performance tools, and familiarity with Python.
