Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance features on existing backend services and cloud infrastructure.
- Monitor, triage, and resolve platform and service incidents.
- Build internal tooling and automation to improve team efficiency and system reliability.
- Work across multiple services and systems with varying contexts, priorities, and timelines.
- Collaborate on design, implementation, and code review.
- Participate in an on-call support rotation and contribute to operational runbooks.
- Apply AI-assisted and spec-driven development practices when they accelerate quality delivery.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of hands-on software engineering experience; internship experience counts.
- No specific degree is required; demonstrated skills and track record are emphasized.
- Experience with Java, Spring Boot, and Maven, or a comparable backend language and framework.
- Working knowledge of several AWS services.
- Familiarity with containerization and CI/CD pipelines, including Docker, Jenkins, or equivalent tools.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities across teams.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new tools, systems, or domains independently and deliver results.
- Preferred experience includes PostgreSQL or another relational database, Kafka or distributed messaging systems, SonarQube or equivalent static analysis tooling, AI-assisted or AI-spec-driven development workflows, microservice architecture, distributed systems, and brownfield codebases.
