Base Salary
$171k - $260k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead and deploy advanced machine learning systems across NLP, speech recognition, recommendation systems, and information retrieval.
- Design and build agentic AI systems with tool and function calling, multi-agent orchestration, planning, grounding, and safety guardrails.
- Fine-tune and adapt LLMs and SLMs using PEFT methods, distillation, and quantization while optimizing quality, latency, cost, and production performance.
- Apply reinforcement learning, bandits, and feedback-based approaches to personalization, dialog policies, and sequential decision-making.
- Evaluate ML system performance, design rigorous experiments, establish baselines and metrics, and conduct error analysis.
- Implement privacy, safety, security, PCI handling and redaction, policy checks, jailbreak resistance, and auditability for generative AI systems.
- Collaborate with business, technology, product, design, analytics, model governance, and control partners to deploy responsible AI solutions.
Requirements
- MS degree with 7+ years or PhD with 4+ years of hands-on industry experience building and deploying production machine learning systems.
- Strong knowledge of NLP, transformer architectures, knowledge distillation, transfer learning, representation learning, machine learning, deep learning, and statistical modeling.
- Applied generative AI experience with LLMs, SLM fine-tuning and deployment, prompt design, grounded generation, and RAG.
- Experience scaling LLM systems through caching, batching, prompt and version governance, and evaluation harnesses.
- Understanding of information retrieval concepts including indexing, ranking, dense and sparse retrieval, re-ranking, and/or recommendation systems.
- Proficiency in Python, PyTorch or TensorFlow, Hugging Face, and scikit-learn, with the ability to write production-quality code.
- Preferred experience includes virtual assistant model development, multi-agent orchestration, agent governance and evaluation, red-teaming, RL or bandits, preference optimization, regulated finance, MLOps/LLMOps, and A/B experimentation.
- Strong experimental design, analytical thinking, scientific reasoning, communication, independent work, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
