Responsibilities
- Architect and personally build end-to-end software and platform solutions for complex cryptographic and security initiatives.
- Design, implement, and integrate key management, encryption/decryption services, PKI, certificate lifecycle management, HSMs, token and credential issuance, and non-human secrets controls.
- Own and execute the enterprise-architecture vision by translating strategic goals into technical plans, prototypes, and operating systems.
- Establish secure-by-design engineering standards, guardrails, governance patterns, and reusable architecture patterns.
- Solve ambiguous, cross-system technical problems and deliver performance, reliability, and scalability improvements.
- Lead strategically important initiatives across multiple teams as an individual contributor with substantial autonomy.
- Provide technical leadership, coaching, mentoring, code reviews, design sessions, pairing, and knowledge sharing.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, cryptographic techniques, and relevant research through measurable prototypes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of professional software development experience with an ongoing record of hands-on coding.
- Deep knowledge of multiple programming languages, software architecture, and design principles.
- Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle, testing, deployment, and security practices.
- Demonstrated enterprise-architecture experience involving personally defined and implemented architectures, prototypes, reference implementations, or production systems.
- Applied experience with cryptography and/or secrets management, including areas such as encryption services, key and certificate lifecycle, PKI, HSMs, or HashiCorp Vault.
- Expertise in cloud-native architectures, microservices, container orchestration, and DevOps/CI-CD.
- Hands-on applied cryptography experience at scale, including key management systems, HSM integration, certificate automation, or machine-identity secrets.
- Security or software certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC, or CSDP are valued.
- Familiarity with financial-services regulatory and control frameworks such as SOX, GLBA, and PCI.
