Base Salary

$150k - $250k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, maintain, and debug firmware supporting advanced DSP algorithms on embedded processors.
  • Design finite state machines for DSP acquisition and tracking control loops.
  • Optimize firmware for real-time latency, throughput, and resource usage, including FFT algorithms and FFT-based resampling.
  • Own the pre-silicon test-driven development framework for DSP firmware.
  • Generate and integrate hardware abstraction layers with simulation and emulation platforms.
  • Collaborate with verification teams on firmware validation strategy and regression infrastructure.
  • Analyze firmware logs, traces, and instrumentation to debug complex firmware, DSP, and system-level issues.
  • Identify root causes, improve test coverage, and enforce firmware coding standards and best practices.
  • Define development workflows and long-term maintainability practices.
  • Mentor and guide junior firmware engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of relevant embedded or firmware development experience.
  • Strong Digital Signal Processing fundamentals and algorithm implementation experience.
  • Experience optimizing FFT algorithms and FFT-based resampling, preferably on SiFive processors.
  • Hands-on C/C++ programming and DSP-centric embedded firmware development experience.
  • Experience with tracing, profiling, logging, and hardware/software debugging tools.
  • Ability to collaborate with systems, DSP, verification, and hardware teams.
  • Strong communication and mentoring skills.
  • Preferred: experience with coherent optical systems or silicon photonics.
  • Preferred: knowledge of RISC-V architecture, including SiFive or similar processors.
  • Preferred: familiarity with FPGA and emulation platforms, JTAG debuggers, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, UVM-based verification environments, and SystemVerilog test methodologies.
