Base Salary

$141k - $207k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement reliable software integrations between orchestration layers and physical laboratory systems.
  • Own the translation layer between high-level workflow logic and low-level instrument control.
  • Partner with automation engineers and biologists to deliver robust, maintainable, production-ready integrations.
  • Deploy and maintain containerized services and integrate cloud orchestration frameworks with laboratory control systems and LIMS infrastructure.
  • Build scalable Python applications and data pipelines connecting experimental readouts with downstream analysis tools.
  • Prototype and evaluate AI-driven decision-making, LLM tooling, and agent frameworks for laboratory workflows.
  • Mentor automation engineering team members and influence the technical roadmap for autonomous discovery systems.
  • Evaluate tools, frameworks, and vendor solutions for strategic fit.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Bioengineering, or a related discipline plus at least 3 years of relevant industry experience; or an M.S. in a related discipline plus at least 5 years; or a B.S. in a related discipline plus at least 8 years.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating software systems with laboratory automation platforms.
  • Strong Python development skills and experience building and maintaining production-level applications.
  • Hands-on production experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with cloud-based orchestration frameworks such as Argo on Kubernetes.
  • Experience integrating software control systems with liquid handlers, analytical instruments, or robotic workflows.
  • Familiarity with biologics discovery instrumentation and integrated laboratory scheduling, execution, LIMS, ELN, or data pipeline systems is preferred.
  • Some hands-on experience with LLMs, agent frameworks, or AI-driven workflow automation is preferred.
  • Familiarity with LangChain, LangGraph, or similar tools is a plus.
  • Ability to combine architectural thinking with hands-on engineering and collaborate across software, automation, and biological science teams.

Benefits

  • Anticipated base compensation is $141,000-$206,800 per year.
  • Eligible full-time employees may receive a company bonus based partly on company and individual performance.
