Base Salary
$298k - $368k/yr
Responsibilities
- Drive incident response, retrospectives, continuous improvement, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity for release-oriented outages.
- Organize and participate in on-call rotations and improve on-call metrics and post-mitigation workstreams.
- Harden software, develop playbooks, and improve the robustness, adaptability, and debuggability of critical release systems.
- Lead analysis and response to novel, rare, or unexpected events in the development analysis cycle.
- Champion reliability engineering practices across the Onboard, Eval, and Simulator organizations.
- Contribute to software system architecture and partner with engineering leaders to improve production reliability.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of experience working on large-scale production software systems, especially machine-learned systems.
- 10+ years of hands-on coding experience with C++.
- Experience organizing and running on-call rotations.
- Deep expertise in large-scale distributed systems, observability tools, monitoring systems, and incident management practices.
- Strong background in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, production operations at scale, automation, infrastructure, and modern DevOps/SRE tooling.
- Track record of improving system reliability through data-driven approaches and systematic problem-solving.
- Strong collaboration, communication, organizational awareness, and ability to influence without authority.
- Preferred: experience leading hybrid hardware/software production systems.
- Preferred: experience leading teams working on modern deep machine learning or large-scale models.
- Preferred: track record of driving change in engineering organizations of 1,000+ people.
