Responsibilities
- Develop software changes in Java and PL/SQL for an ecommerce payments gateway.
- Analyze payment-processing business processes, production data, product code, and payments-industry specifications to scope work.
- Review code and serve as an authorized code reviewer while pairing with and supporting other engineers.
- Collaborate with test engineers on test coverage and contribute to automated integration and system tests.
- Design rollout and monitoring approaches for new features.
- Provide periodic out-of-hours support for release deployments through a rota.
Requirements
- Experience delivering precise software and solving complex business problems.
- Knowledge of Java or a related object-oriented programming language.
- Understanding of object-oriented design patterns and SOLID development principles.
- Ability to write code that interacts effectively with large databases.
- Knowledge of database systems, ideally SQL-based systems such as Oracle.
- Experience working with very large codebases and version control systems.
- Experience using Linux in development and production environments.
- Financial services industry experience is a bonus.
- Familiarity with Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, and other agile frameworks is a bonus.
- Cloud technology and enterprise compute, storage, or networking experience is a bonus.
