Responsibilities
- Develop core navigation, pathfinding, avoidance, and AI behavior systems for an open-world game.
- Build and maintain major systems that enable believable AI behavior and designer-created AI systems.
- Create debugging tools and designer tools for AI systems.
- Write high-quality, optimized, and reliable code aligned with project goals.
- Collaborate with designers and developers to understand requirements and support efficient AI system creation.
- Profile and optimize systems-level code and contribute to cross-functional game systems and components.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional programming experience in the games industry.
- Strong proficiency in C++ and knowledge of Unreal Engine.
- Deep expertise in pathfinding, navigation, and avoidance, ideally for an open-world game.
- Experience developing AI systems in games and working with current-generation console hardware.
- Understanding of geometric algorithms, data structures, multithreaded systems, and 3D mathematics.
- Experience profiling and optimizing code at the systems level.
- Strong creative, strategic, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Nice-to-have experience with Mass AI in Unreal 5, ECS or Mass Framework, 3D navigation, large development environments, and shipping at least one AAA title.
