Responsibilities
- Set technical direction and own the domain reference architecture across 2–4 delivery teams.
- Lead architectural modernization, legacy decommissioning, platform adoption, and cross-team technical change.
- Design and govern secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-effective AWS solutions, APIs, events, data stores, and integration patterns.
- Mentor engineers and emerging technical leads while improving engineering practices, knowledge sharing, and technical standards.
- Provide hands-on contributions through prototypes, reference implementations, complex refactors, and high-risk changes.
- Drive operational excellence through SLIs/SLOs, observability, incident leadership, resilience testing, disaster recovery validation, and systemic reliability improvements.
- Lead threat modeling, security reviews, testing strategy, deployment safety, and remediation of technical and operational risks.
- Co-own the 12–24 month domain technical roadmap with Product and Engineering leadership.
- Evaluate vendors and third-party platforms based on integration, security, cost, and operational considerations.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a senior technical leader across multiple teams and services within a bounded domain.
- Strong polyglot software engineering background, such as C#/.NET, Java, and JavaScript/Node.js.
- Experience modernizing legacy architectures into cloud-native patterns, reducing technical debt, and safely decommissioning systems.
- Experience with systems analysis, software design, development, quality assurance, integration methodologies, and solutions with significant technical and business impact.
- Experience leading architectural change or measurable improvements in reliability, cost, performance, or platform adoption.
- Strong software design skills covering SOLID, domain-driven design, event-driven architecture, modular design, and maintainable codebases.
- Knowledge of distributed systems, API and event governance, AWS architecture, infrastructure as code, secure architecture, threat modeling, testing strategy, observability, SRE principles, CI/CD, source control, and automation.
- Familiarity with responsible AI usage in engineering workflows, including policy guardrails, data privacy, and human-in-the-loop review.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
