Responsibilities
- Provide rotational 24/7 production support for mainframe applications and resolve P1–P4 incidents within agreed SLAs.
- Serve as the AMS Level 3 escalation point for complex incidents, problems, and application failures.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent resolutions to reduce recurring incidents.
- Design, develop, maintain, test, and troubleshoot COBOL batch and online applications using CICS and IMS DC.
- Execute application changes, enhancements, break/fix remediation, and database maintenance for DB2, IMS DB, and VSAM.
- Lead COBOL upgrade activities from VS COBOL through IBM COBOL V6, including code retrofit, testing, and integration.
- Support DevOps on Z CI/CD activities, automated testing, quality gates, and deployments across test, staging, and production environments.
- Maintain application documentation, data lineage, system schematics, and Knowledge Management Framework materials.
- Lead knowledge acquisition and transition activities and mentor Associate and Senior-level engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in mainframe application development, support, and maintenance.
- Advanced IBM Enterprise COBOL V4–V6 experience across batch and online environments.
- Experience with CICS transaction processing, JCL, DB2 and SQL, IMS DB/DC, VSAM, and z/OS troubleshooting.
- Experience with Netron Framework, GitHub, IBM Dependency Based Build, or Endevor with Webhook/Git Bridge.
- Experience with modern IDEs and mainframe testing tools such as IBM Wazi Developer, VS Code extensions for Z, IBM Developer for z/OS, or Topaz.
- Knowledge of Assembler, CI/CD pipeline execution, automated testing, application performance monitoring, and mainframe source-code management.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, interpersonal, independent-working, and teamwork skills.
