Responsibilities
- Lead technically demanding, cross-functional projects involving inventory and promise systems.
- Design architectures for new microservices and machine learning pipelines.
- Develop scalable, performant, reliable systems using distributed-systems and resilience-engineering practices.
- Decompose complex problems into straightforward technical solutions and review complex code for correctness, performance, and reliability.
- Set architecture direction, influence multiple teams, and drive cross-team alignment.
- Mentor engineers and support career development across the technical community.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience designing and operating high-scale distributed systems with strict latency and reliability requirements.
- Expert hands-on coding ability in Java or a similar language for backend systems at scale.
- Deep understanding of API design, concurrency, data modeling, caching, messaging, and service-to-service communication using gRPC and REST.
- Experience with production systems handling high QPS, large data volumes, or Tier-1 SLAs; Kafka-based event-driven architectures; and multi-region systems.
- Experience with circuit breakers, retry strategies, load testing, capacity planning, and graceful degradation.
- Demonstrated technical leadership, architecture ownership, cross-team alignment, and mentoring of senior engineers.
- Preferred experience in e-commerce, fulfillment, supply chain, logistics, inventory, order management, or planning systems.
- Preferred experience with CPLEX, OR-Tools, decision engines, constraint programming, or production systems integrated with data science.
- Preferred experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Copilot, Devin, or Claude Code.
- Preferred experience with specification-driven development using OpenAPI, Swagger, Protocol Buffers, API-first design, or contract-first development.
