Base Salary
$205k - $241k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define, architect, and champion software frameworks for complex safety-critical embedded systems.
- Lead and execute technical trade studies covering design alternatives, technologies, and methodologies.
- Guide requirements specification, traceability, software design, implementation, integration, and validation across the software lifecycle.
- Develop and guide robust, high-performance embedded code primarily in C and C++ for RTOS-based environments.
- Ensure adherence to DO-178C, DO-331, and DO-332 and support internal and SOI audits.
- Establish and continuously improve engineering practices, coding standards, tools, and reliable software development processes.
- Mentor senior and staff engineers and serve as a software engineering domain expert.
- Coordinate with Systems Engineering, Hardware Engineering, and Safety teams on complete aircraft and ground-system integration.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering with at least 15 years of substantial safety-critical software design and development experience, or 10 years of experience with a master’s degree or PhD.
- Extensive experience developing high-integrity, safety-critical software in aerospace, automotive, rail, or defense industries.
- Expertise designing and developing software architecture for high-integrity embedded systems.
- Strong practical proficiency in C, C++, Assembly, and embedded software toolchains.
- Experience with model-based software design and development techniques is preferred.
- Experience working with Real-Time Operating Systems.
- Understanding of ARINC 653, Integrated Modular Avionics, avionics communication protocols, bootloaders, and interrupt handling.
- Strong understanding of computer architecture, microcontrollers, FPGA, memory management, peripherals, and software-hardware relationships.
- Strong knowledge of design patterns, architectural patterns, and software modeling languages.
- Expertise conducting rigorous trade studies and making data-driven architectural decisions.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, systems thinking, and technical mentorship abilities.
