Senior Software Engineer - Grading Operations

Responsibilities
- Build backend services, RESTful APIs, data models, integrations, and internal applications for grading and authentication operations.
- Design and implement event-driven, asynchronous, and distributed systems that move operational data reliably at high volume.
- Work across containerized .NET applications, serverless APIs, and Python background-processing jobs.
- Contribute to frontend development using JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and Vue.js.
- Translate Product, Technology, and Operations requirements into clean technical designs across backend and frontend systems.
- Troubleshoot data, integration, service, and user-interface issues across a large long-lived codebase.
- Use AI tooling, preferably Claude, throughout software design, architecture, and implementation while owning the quality of shipped work.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and improve system design, code quality, observability, documentation, and engineering practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience building production applications, with substantial backend experience and some hands-on frontend delivery.
- 3+ years of experience or strong proficiency with C# and .NET.
- Routine experience using AI tooling in software development, with the judgment to review and take responsibility for its output.
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs, service integrations, automated tests, relational database systems, and data models.
- Hands-on experience building and operating cloud production services, including container orchestration, serverless compute behind an API gateway, and managed messaging and data stores.
- Comfort working in a modern frontend codebase with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and a component-based framework.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and monitoring and observability tooling.
- Strong communication, documentation, troubleshooting, system-design, and requirements-translation skills.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Preferred experience includes AWS, Python and pytest or unittest, Apache Kafka, DynamoDB, Vue.js, asynchronous and event-driven systems, distributed systems, high-volume workflow optimization, and close partnership with Product and Operations teams.
