Responsibilities
- Lead the technical direction and design of service standards and golden paths.
- Define company-wide standards for consumer APIs, service contracts, service startup routines, and performance.
- Build reusable backend libraries, tools, and scaffolding for service creation and maintenance.
- Drive adoption of framework updates across backend engineering teams and gather feedback.
- Collaborate with observability and infrastructure teams on telemetry, SLOs, and resilience practices.
- Embed security, privacy, and compliance guidelines into service contracts and framework templates.
- Mentor senior backend engineers, conduct architectural design reviews, and lead platform-wide RFCs and ADRs.
Requirements
- Deep backend engineering experience and strong architectural intuition.
- Proven success building scalable services and frameworks.
- A track record of driving cross-team technical alignment and leading complex initiatives across multiple engineering groups.
- Expert knowledge of API contracts, service startup patterns, and performance optimization.
- Ability to evaluate platform design trade-offs and create effective golden paths.
- Ability to communicate technical vision and architectural decisions to technical and engineering leadership.
- Experience mentoring engineers, conducting design reviews, and sharing backend best practices.
