Base Salary
$192k - $288k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build high-performance, secure, well-documented user interfaces and APIs for AI-driven applications.
- Develop schemas and manage SQL, NoSQL, vector, and other database systems for performance and scalability.
- Implement and maintain front-end and backend services with a focus on performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Diagnose bottlenecks and optimize systems for high availability and low latency across large-scale workloads.
- Use cloud services, Kubernetes, and DevOps practices to build and deploy production-grade systems.
- Integrate data pipelines, APIs, and cloud infrastructure into scientific workflows in collaboration with researchers, engineers, and scientists.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 4–6 years of experience building and deploying large-scale production systems.
- Strong experience with React and TypeScript, with strength in front-end, backend, or data modeling and design.
- Strong experience with SQL, NoSQL, and emerging database technologies such as vector databases, including schema design, indexing, and query optimization.
- Ability to design and scale RESTful or GraphQL APIs for reliability and performance.
- Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants is required.
- Experience in life sciences, material sciences, or other research-heavy or data-intensive fields is preferred.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to own complex backend challenges and balance scalability, performance, and maintainability.
- Bonus experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure; Kubernetes; containerization; Terraform; CloudFormation; GitHub Actions; Flyte; Temporal; Airflow; or Prefect.
