Responsibilities
- Lead cross-team initiatives and collaborate with external partners, clients, and industry groups to advance technical capabilities.
- Gather functional requirements, create technical specifications, and lead project and test planning.
- Act as a technical subject matter expert, mentor engineers, and lead a small team solving complex programming and design problems.
- Spend roughly 60% of the role on hands-on coding for scalable web applications and services.
- Make strategic technology decisions, monitor industry trends, and guide web technology choices.
- Create technical documentation and presentations explaining architectural and design options.
- Solve vague customer problems end to end with accountability for the resulting software product or service.
Requirements
- BS/MS in Computer Science or a related area, or equivalent experience.
- 12+ years of experience delivering enterprise-class web applications.
- 5+ years of experience designing and implementing robust, highly scalable services.
- Experience with microservices and messaging technologies including Kubernetes, Kafka, and ActiveMQ.
- Experience writing scalable web application code and addressing accessibility, internationalization, instrumentation, cross-browser, cross-platform, web, and mobile constraints.
- Strong knowledge of algorithms and design patterns.
- 5+ years of JavaScript application design and testing experience.
- 7+ years of experience with mid-tier technologies such as Node and Java.
- Experience with unit, integration, functional, and automated testing.
- Experience with relational database design and implementation.
- Experience with UI frameworks such as React, Backbone, and Angular.
- Business acumen, strategic thinking, and strategy development skills.
- Ability to mentor junior developers and lead technical collaboration across teams.
