Responsibilities
- Operate, expand, and continuously improve the European Sovereign Cloud and its high-availability services.
- Review operational health, identify anomalies, create actionable bug reports, and improve system efficiency and performance.
- Provide feedback on change-management documents and address the team’s operational backlog.
- Develop and test scripts and contribute to automation and operational best practices.
- Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation, resolve incidents, root-cause issues, and maintain resilient and fault-tolerant systems.
- Create, revise, and improve standard operating procedures.
- Educate service teams about the European Sovereign Cloud and collaborate with global AWS teams.
- Contribute to strategic team efforts and mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- Experience with Linux OS and network troubleshooting, or networking administration and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Python, Perl, or another scripting language.
- Experience in systems engineering, site reliability engineering, and building and operating systems at scale.
- EU member-state nationality is required, and candidates must reside in the EU.
- Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
- Ability to lead the creation, revision, or improvement of standard operating procedures and drive operational best practices.
- Preferred: experience with monitoring frameworks such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, or Elastic.
- Preferred: experience operating 24x7 high-availability distributed applications, performance tuning, and optimizing fleet utilization.
- Preferred: experience with infrastructure as code such as CDK, CloudFormation, Puppet, Chef, or Ansible.
- Preferred: experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, generative AI technologies, automated deployment, configuration management, prompt engineering, model deployment, and AI-powered automation tools.
- Preferred: experience mentoring junior engineers, working cross-organizationally, and leading strategic efforts involving multiple team members.
