Responsibilities
- Lead frontend technical direction and architectural decisions for the Casino Technology unit while aligning with the broader mobile platform.
- Own the architecture and evolution of Casino features in a high-performance React Native application for iOS and Android.
- Develop and improve mobile applications serving multiple product variants, daily users, and regulatory jurisdictions.
- Drive multi-quarter initiatives involving legacy migration, platform modernization, design system adoption, and build infrastructure improvements.
- Define shared engineering standards, patterns, and conventions with Principal Engineers and mobile leadership.
- Mentor senior and staff engineers through architectural guidance, code reviews, and hands-on pairing.
- Partner with Product Management, Design, QA, and Backend Engineering on roadmaps, feasibility, and build-vs-buy-vs-migrate decisions.
- Lead adoption of AI-assisted development tools and workflows, including team conventions, guardrails, and scalable practices.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues, lead troubleshooting, and convert incidents into systemic improvements.
- Champion analytics, error reporting, performance monitoring, and data-informed architectural and product decisions.
- Represent Casino engineering priorities in cross-unit technical forums and contribute to platform-wide decisions.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience developing mobile applications, including at least 7 years focused on React Native.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- Deep expertise in React Native architecture and TypeScript in strict mode, with experience defining patterns adopted across engineering teams.
- Mastery of MobX for client state and TanStack React Query for server state, including clear separation of their responsibilities.
- Demonstrated daily use and team-level adoption experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex.
- Experience designing resilient real-time mobile systems using RESTful services, WebSockets, and GraphQL.
- Significant native iOS experience with Swift or Objective-C and/or Android experience with Kotlin or Java, including native module bridges and cross-boundary data flow.
- Prior igaming, sportsbook, or online gaming experience and understanding of regulatory, compliance, and geolocation constraints.
- Experience architecting multi-variant mobile applications, jurisdiction-specific logic, and feature-flag-driven rollouts such as LaunchDarkly.
- Experience with design systems, legacy codebase migrations, developer tooling, or CI/CD pipeline optimization for App Store and Play Store delivery.
- Knowledge of mobile application architecture, OS-level APIs, debugging, performance profiling, security hardening, and deployment.
- Demonstrated ability to drive multi-quarter architectural improvements and balance technical vision with product delivery.
- Experience mentoring senior and staff engineers and influencing cross-functional engineering, product, design, QA, and backend leadership.
