Responsibilities
- Design and develop software features for existing and future optical networking products.
- Resolve bugs and sustaining issues in legacy products.
- Collaborate with validation, integration, optical, hardware, and test engineering teams to improve product performance and development efficiency.
- Maintain accurate firmware documentation and provide input to the documentation team.
- Coach junior software engineers and drive coding reviews and engineering practices across the team.
- Participate in pre- and post-sales customer interactions and provide guidance to Field Application Engineers.
- Develop embedded Linux multi-process and multi-threaded software using object-oriented design.
- Support cross-site development with global teams and occasional off-site meetings or travel.
Requirements
- University degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
- At least 8 years of experience in embedded software systems.
- At least 5 years of experience in the optical networking industry, including L0 and/or L1 equipment.
- Expertise in C and C++ programming for embedded systems.
- Experience with system product software functions such as north-bound interfaces, platform infrastructure, BSP, photonic control, alarms, performance monitoring, and service management.
- Knowledge of L2/L3 networking protocols including LLDP, OSPF, and BGP.
- Familiarity with Netconf, OpenConfig, YANG models, security protocols, virtualization, and container technologies.
- Experience with optical networking system-level features such as ROADM and ILA.
- Experience with Go and Python is required as listed among the programming languages.
- Experience with open-source projects such as SONiC, FRRouting, and Open vSwitch is preferred.
- Strong written and oral English communication skills, ability to work on an aggressive schedule, and willingness to collaborate with global teams.
- Knowledge of Chinese is an asset.
