Responsibilities
- Design and develop embedded firmware, control algorithms, and reusable features for optical products.
- Create firmware test processes and perform functional, unit, robustness, and laboratory debugging activities.
- Improve code reusability, execution efficiency, and product performance while maintaining firmware documentation.
- Collaborate with optical, hardware, test, manufacturing, New Product Introduction, and customer teams to define requirements and deliver solutions.
- Resolve sustaining issues, fix legacy-product defects, and implement customer-requested features.
- Mentor junior firmware engineers, lead code reviews, and promote consistent coding standards.
- Support customers and provide technical guidance across global, cross-cultural engineering teams.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Eight or more years of experience developing embedded and real-time control systems using microcontrollers and FPGA-based hardware.
- Advanced embedded C++ programming and object-oriented design experience.
- Knowledge of NIOS, ARM, and GNU toolchains.
- Experience with laboratory debugging tools, including oscilloscopes and logic analysers.
- Knowledge of digital signal processing and control theory, including filters and open- and closed-loop systems.
- Practical experience with Agile development, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
- Strong analytical, structured problem-solving, communication, prioritization, and independent-working skills.
- Experience working within global, cross-cultural teams is required; optical communications and assembly-language programming experience is advantageous.
