Responsibilities
- Design and develop software features based on customer and product line management requirements.
- Develop features for existing and future products and resolve bugs and sustaining issues in legacy products.
- Collaborate with validation, integration, optical, hardware, and test engineering teams to improve product performance and development processes.
- Maintain accurate firmware documentation.
- Coach junior software engineers and drive coding reviews and coding practices across the team.
- Provide guidance to Field Application Engineers during pre- and post-sales customer interactions.
- Provide input to the documentation team.
- Support quality, environmental, safety, and EHS procedures and applicable management-system standards.
Requirements
- University degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
- At least 8 years of experience in embedded software systems.
- At least 5 years of experience in the optical networking industry, including L0 and/or L1 equipment.
- Expertise in C and C++ programming for embedded systems.
- Familiarity with L2/L3 protocols, including LLDP, OSPF, and BGP.
- Experience with system-product software functions such as North-Bound Interface, platform infrastructure, BSP, photonic control, alarms, performance management, and service management.
- Practical experience across the Agile development lifecycle, including continuous integration, continuous deployment, and DevOps practices.
- Experience with open-source code such as SONiC, FRRouting, or Open vSwitch is a plus.
- Familiarity with Netconf, OpenConfig, YANG models, security protocols, virtualization, and container technologies.
- Experience with optical networking system-level features such as ROADM and ILA.
- Programming experience with C/C++, Go, and Python.
- Knowledge of object-oriented design and embedded Linux multiprocess and multithread design.
- Experience working with cross-site global teams and delivering on aggressive schedules.
- Strong written and oral English communication skills; knowledge of Chinese is an asset.
- Ability to meet onsite work requirements and occasionally travel or work flexible hours.
