Responsibilities
- Participate in analysis, design, development, estimation, planning, support, retrospectives, and other phases of the Agile development process.
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for data platforms, data pipelines, APIs, backend services, and data-centric applications.
- Create and execute automated and manual tests for source-to-target mappings, ETL/ELT workflows, transformations, data-quality rules, reconciliations, and business logic.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, system, and data-validation testing across ingestion, transformation, storage, APIs, reporting, metadata, database objects, and UI applications.
- Analyze test results, investigate data defects and root causes, and work with engineering teams to resolve quality and application issues.
- Improve data-testing processes, automation frameworks, tools, quality gates, test-data management, and enterprise quality practices.
- Prepare status reports covering testing progress, validation coverage, automation execution, defect metrics, release readiness, and quality trends.
- Maintain dashboards and execution reports using test-management, defect-tracking, CI/CD, and data-quality platforms.
- Communicate risks, blockers, data-quality concerns, and release readiness to project managers, stakeholders, and leadership.
Requirements
- 4–7 years of experience in software testing, data testing, data validation, orchestration tools, and automation, including at least 2 years focused on enterprise data platforms, data warehouses or lakehouses, ETL/ELT pipelines, or data-centric applications.
- Strong programming and scripting skills in Python and SQL; C# or another object-oriented language is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks such as PyTest, Behave, Robot Framework, Playwright, Selenium, or similar tools.
- Experience with API and service testing using Postman, RestAssured, Karate, or equivalent automation libraries.
- Experience with CI/CD and version-control tools such as Jenkins, TeamCity, GitHub, Azure DevOps, GitLab, or similar platforms.
- Experience with test-management and defect-tracking tools such as JIRA, Zephyr, TestRail, or equivalent platforms.
- Advanced SQL skills and experience validating data in relational databases, data warehouses, cloud data platforms, or data lakes; Snowflake is preferred.
- Experience validating ETL/ELT pipelines, mappings, schema changes, lineage, reconciliation, completeness, accuracy, timeliness, and referential integrity.
- Experience or exposure to ETL, data-quality, observability, or transformation tools such as dbt tests, Fivetran, Soda, ADF, Airflow, Astronomer, Databricks, or Snowflake is desirable.
- Experience or exposure to performance testing for data pipelines, database queries, APIs, batch jobs, or large-volume data processing is desirable.
- Demonstrated experience working with clients and stakeholders to create test cases, communicate status, prioritize work, and manage risks.
- Strong experience with enterprise data platforms, data engineering, data warehousing, financial-services data, sales data, marketing data, or analytics applications.
- Experience as a QA, SDET, or Data Test Engineer on medium-to-large application or data-platform projects.
- Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle, Data Development Life Cycle, Agile methodologies, and release management practices.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, collaboration, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently across multiple projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field is preferred.
