Responsibilities
- Write, review, and ship production backend code using C#/.NET and Python.
- Design and build APIs and services end to end, including technical approaches, versioned API contracts, implementation, testing, and release.
- Contribute to scalable backend architecture across modular services, distributed systems, event-driven messaging, and asynchronous processing.
- Optimize latency, throughput, database queries, caching, concurrency, scalability, and cloud costs.
- Develop and maintain unit, integration, contract, load, and automated tests.
- Drive CI/CD automation, release quality, deployment processes, feature-flagged rollouts, and production validation.
- Own service health through observability, SLOs, error-rate and latency tracking, on-call participation, and incident response.
- Collaborate with Product Management, UX, iOS, Android, desktop, and other client engineering teams to deliver defined features.
- Participate in code reviews, share knowledge, and evaluate backend, cloud, AI, and tooling technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of professional backend software development experience.
- Deep production-level expertise in either C#/.NET with ASP.NET Core or Python with FastAPI/Django.
- Experience designing and operating backend architectures at scale, including microservices or modular monoliths, event-driven systems, asynchronous messaging, and distributed systems patterns.
- Strong REST API design experience, including versioning, pagination, idempotency, error handling, and OpenAPI documentation.
- Strong experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including schema design, indexing, and query tuning.
- Understanding of concurrency models, including async/await and the Task Parallel Library in .NET or asyncio in Python.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, plus Docker and Kubernetes or an equivalent orchestration platform.
- At least one year of practical experience using modern AI engineering tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot.
- Experience integrating AI/LLM capabilities into backend services, including agentic patterns, evaluations, and latency, cost, and reliability tradeoffs.
- Experience with Clean Architecture, Domain-Driven Design, CQRS, or hexagonal architecture.
- Strong debugging, profiling, and performance optimization skills.
- Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and service observability tooling.
- Strong written and verbal communication, collaboration, ownership, knowledge sharing, and ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving environment.
- Bonus qualifications include experience with both C# and Python and collaboration with iOS, Android, Electron, or Angular engineering teams.
Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- 401(k) match, generous paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and a yearly lifestyle stipend.
